Neighbourhood and SurroundingTown Sladkovicovo is a part of Galanta County, which belongs to Trnava administrative region since 1996. The county stretches in Panonian lowland between the River Vah and the River Small Danube. This county has more then 94 000 inhabitants on an area of 641 km2 and as such, it belongs to the mid-sized counties in Slovakia. 57% of inhabitants have Slovak nationality, 42% Hungarian and the rest is of different origin. In the county there are 36 localities and three of them were proclaimed as towns. Neo-Gothic castleDistance: 6 kmDescription: Archaeological findings in the Galanta county prove that this area have already been continuously inhabited since the end of Neolith. Since the late 9th century, Slavonic tribes together with new incomers of old Hungarian origin lived in this area. The first written documents about Galanta area are from the 12th century. They contain a note on churches, castles, pubs, mills, gravestones and other different sculptures. To the precious and rare historical sightseeing belong the Renaissance- and Gothic castle as well as the Catholic Church in Galanta. More information... Watermill and Churches in JelkaDistance: 10 kmDescription: Near a village called Jelka there is a Watermill on Small Danube. (The village has 3, 266 ha and 3, 828 inhabitants. The majority of them have Hungarian nationality. ) Altogether there are seven watermills, which used to mill wheat until recent time. The Németh’s Watermill, which was reconstructed between 1992-1994 and the local open-air museum are regarded for the jewel of the village. Beautiful surrounding around the watermill on the bank of the Small Danube offers a very pleasant place for relaxation and recreation. To other interesting sightseeing belongs the John Baptist’s Catholic Church. The oldest part of the church, namely the sacristy, was built in Romanesque style in the 13th century. In the village there is also the Guardian Angel’s Chapel from the 18th century. Another dominant buildings in this village are the Protestant church (1930) and the evangelical church (1969-71). Also a tree, which belongs to the Planate family, is the biggest in the whole Slovak Republic and contributes to the pride of the village. More information... Summer lakes SenecDistance: 18 kmDescription: Due to the especially favourable conditions, the town Senec is closely connected with tourism. Sub continental climate, hot water (25°C), sunshine - 2 200 h/y on average, various water sports, fishing, accommodation, restaurants and other numerous services directly in the area make the city to a favourite touristy place, not only in the Slovakia but also in the middle Europe. This area is visited by 800 000-1 million tourists, predominately in summer season (June-September). It is situated in the west from Senec and traditionally divided into North and South. The water covers more than 100 ha (length 2,200m, width 400m). The water surface is originally built out of 5 flooded grave pits; witch got connected over the course of time. More information...
